What is Piriteze Children's Hayfever and Allergy Syrup?

Piriteze Children's Hayfever and Allergy Syrup provides symptomatic treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (hay fever), and chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives). It uses the antihistamine Cetirizine hydrochloride to help control the symptoms of hay fever and allergies, including pet allergies, skin allergies, mould spores, and house and dust mites.

Comes in a sweet sugar-free banana flavour. 

What is an antihistamine?

When you are in contact with something you’re allergic to, such as pollen, your body begins to produce histamine. Histamine is an immune response to allergic substances and causes symptoms like watery eyes and sneezing with the intention to remove the allergen from your body. Antihistamines block histamine receptors, helping to prevent those symptoms from occurring right from the start.

Piriteze Hayfever and Allergy Syrup 1mg/ml is suitable for adults and children from 2 years old and up.

How to Use

• Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over: Two 5ml spoonfuls once daily.
• Children aged 6 to 12 years: One 5ml spoonful twice daily, morning and evening.
• Children aged 2 to 6 years: Half a spoonful (2.5ml) twice daily, morning and evening.
• Children under 2 years: Not recommended.

If you have kidney problems, a lower dose may be required. Do not give more than the label tells you.

Ingredients

Active ingredient: Cetirizine hydrochloride 1mg per 1ml.
Other ingredients: Glycerol, Propylene glycol, Sorbitol (E420), Sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), Propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), Sodium acetate, Acetic acid, Saccharin sodium, Banana flavour, Purified water.

Caution

Do not give to children under 2 years of age.
Do not take if you are allergic to cetirizine or any of the other ingredients in this syrup.
Do not take if you are breastfeeding.
Take care when driving or operating machinery, as this medicine may cause drowsiness.
Speak to your GP or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant.
Avoid alcoholic drinks if drowsiness occurs.

Side Effects

This medicine may cause drowsiness. Other possible side effects include dizziness, tiredness, headache, restlessness, sore throat, dry mouth, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea, and runny nose.
If severe side effects occur, stop use and seek medical advice.
