What is Anthisan Cream?

Anthisan Cream is for insect bites and stings and is designed to reduce pain, itching, and inflammation an insect bite or sting, as well as nettle rash can cause. It contains an Antihistamine which blocks the chemical histamine that is produced during an allergic reaction.

What is the active ingredient in Anthisan Cream and what does it do?

Mepyramine maleate:

This belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. It works by blocking a natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction.

Warnings and Precautions

Not suitable for children under 2 years old.

Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Do not use if:

• You are allergic to any of the ingredients thiss cream contains

• You have had an allergic reaction to this cream before

• Your skin is affected by eczema

• You have a cut or grazed the skin

• Your skin has been affected by the sun

• It's on a large area of skin

Speak to your GP or our pharmacist before using if: 

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding

Ingredients

Active Ingredient: Mepyramine Maleate 2% w/w

Other Ingredients include: Ceto-Stearyl Alcohol, Polyethylene Glycol 600 Monostearate, Castor Oil, Methyldroxybenzoate, Foin Coupí© (Fragrance), Silicone Antifoam, Purified Water.

How do I apply Anthisan Cream?

Directions:

1. Anthisan Bite & Sting Cream should be applied directly to the site of the insect bite, insect sting or stinging nettle rash.

2. For best results, use as soon as possible after the bite or sting.

3. In adults and children of 2 years and above apply two to three times a day for up to three days.

What are the side effects of Anthisan Cream?

Stop using Anthisan Cream and see a doctor or go to a hospital straight away if you notice any of the following side effects:

• An allergic reaction. The signs may include: a rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue

Stop using Anthisan Cream and tell a pharmacist if you notice the following side effect:

• An increase in skin redness, swelling and itching in the area where you have used the cream. This might be due to a mild allergic reaction

If you have any concerns or queries regarding any side effects this medicine has caused or could cause you can call your GP or our pharmacist.

If you have any severe side effects stop use immediately and seek medical assitance as soon as possible.
