Xenical 120mg Capsules

Xenical contains the active ingredient Orlistat, the only medicine licensed in the EU to treat Obesity. Orlistat works by blocking 1/3rd of the fat you eat from being absorbed.

Xenical attaches to specific enzymes in your intestine (lipases) and blocks them from breaking down some of the fat you have eaten. This makes it "un-absorbable" and the undigested fat exits your body when you go to the toilet.

Xenical can be used by patients who have a BMI greater than 28 and along with a low calorie balanced diet it can be a safe and effective way to help with reaching your weight loss goals.

This medicine is also available as a clinically equivalent generic here at SimplyMeds Online, at a considerable cost saving. CLICK HERE for more information.

Xenical - Branded Orlistat

Xenical 120mg Capsules are a proven weight loss treatment licensed for supply in the UK. Xenical was the original brand of capsule containing the active ingredient Orlistat. The parent company Roche was the sole license holder until very recently and thus now Orlistat is also available as a generic. There are 2 strengths of Orlistat available on the market. 60mg is available over the counter, Xenical has a strength of 120mg and is prescription only. It is available for supply through the consultation service here at SimplyMeds Online.

How Does Orlistat Work?

Xenical 120mg Capules work by preventing approximately 30% of the fat from the food you eat from being digested and being absorbed into the body. Orlistat attaches to enzymes found in your intestines (lipases) and stops them from breaking down some of the fat you eat. The undigested fat then passes out of the body when you go to the toilet. This effect, along with a balanced diet and regular exercise can help you to reach your weight loss goals quicker. The treatment is safe and doesn't exhibit the same effects as other, illicit weight loss treatments may.

Who is Xenical Suitable For?

The treatment can be used by patients who have a BMI greater than 30 or over 28 if you also suffer from other weight related conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes (to calculate CLICK HERE). Should your BMI drop below this point, you should consider another more suitable method for weight loss.

Xenical is usually recommended if you have made a significant effort to lose weight through diet, exercise or changing your lifestyle.

Orlistat is not recommended for use by pregnant or breastfeeding women.

How to take Xenical

The usual dose of Xenical is one 120 mg capsule taken with each of the three main meals per day. It can be taken immediately before, during a meal or up to one hour after a meal. The capsule should be swallowed with water. There is no point taking this medication if you have not had or are not having a meal.

Xenical should be taken with a well-balanced, calorie controlled diet that is rich in fruit and vegetables and contains an average of 30 % of the calories from fat. Your daily intake of fat, carbohydrate and protein should be distributed evenly over three meals. This means you will usually take one capsule at breakfast time, one capsule at lunch time and one capsule at dinner time. To gain optimal benefit, avoid eating fat containing foods between meals (snacking) for example biscuits, chocolate and savoury snacks.

Xenical only works in the presence of dietary fat. Therefore, if you miss a main meal or if you have a meal containing no fat there is no need to take Xenical.

Xenical can hinder the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K). Patients are advised to take a daily multivitamin as part of their diet. The multivitamin should be taken at least 2 hours after taking Orlistat or before going to bed.
