What are Canesten Cream Combi Internal and External Creams?

Canesten Thrush Combi is an, effective 2-step treatment for vaginal thrush and relief of the irritation. This pack contains a no-mess pre-filled applicator which may be preferred by women who experience vaginal dryness. The double strength external cream relieves external symptoms of the vulva, such as itching, burning and soreness.

What is Thrush and what can cause Thrush?

Yeast and bacteria are naturally present in your vagina. Thrush occurs when the level of Candida albicans increases.

• You have a weakened immune system

• Pregnancy (mainly during third trimester)

• When on your period

• When taking certain medicines and antibiotics

• If you have a medical condition like diabetes, HIV or if your under going  chemotherapy 

Thrush is not an STI or a serious condition and in most cases it can be treated easily and effectively. It is also normal and very common 3 in 4 women suffer from it at least once during their lifetime.

Warnings and Precautions

Do not use the creams, and see your GP as soon as possible if:

• This is the first time you have had symptoms of thrush

• You are pregnant or trying to become pregnant

• You have had more than two episodes of vaginal thrush in the last 6 months

• You or your partner has previously had a sexually transmitted disease

Speak to your GP or our Pharmacist before use if:

• You have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist.

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Read the package leaflet before use.

Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place which is below 25 degrees C. Store in original packaging and do not use if expiration date printed on the carton has passed.

Ingredients

The 5g of Internal Cream contains:
Active Ingredients: Clotrimazole 500mg (10% w/w)
Other ingredients: Benzyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Cetyl Palmitate, Cetostearyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Myristate and Purified Water

The 10g Tube of External Cream contains:
Active Ingredients: Clotrimazole 200mg (2% w/w)
Other ingredients: Benzyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Cetyl Palmitate, Cetostearyl Alcohol, Octyldodecanol and Purified Water 

How do I use Canesten Cream Combi Internal and External Creams?

Dosage:

16-60 years:

Internal cream:

Contents of ONE pre-filled applicator to be inserted into the vagina, prefererably at bedtime

External cream: 

Apply thinly TWO or THREE times daily to the affected area.

Under 16 and over 60 years: not recommended except on medical advice.

This product should only be used if thrush has previously been diagnosed by a doctor.

What are the side effects of Canesten Cream Combi Internal and External Creams?

Possible side effects of Canesten Cream Combi:

• Irritation in area of use, for example: burning, stinging, itching, redness, rash, blistering or peeling. Stop using the cream and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have a severe reaction to it.

• Pelvic or abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding after using the internal cream.
