Portia Ear Syringe

This is an effective method of relieving the symptoms of blockage and discomfort and because you are in control of the pressure used, has been shown to be a safe alternative to syringing performed by a healthcare professional.

You may need to repeat this process every few days, continuing to soften the wax with oil in between, until the ear feels unblocked.

DO NOT USE if there is a pain in the ear

One Portia Rubber Ear Syringe is only suitable for single patient use. Wash hands well before use. Clean Portia Rubber Ear Syringe well each time before use.

Fill the syringe with cooled boiled water that is warm to the touch. Tilt the head to the side so the ear being treated is on top. Place the tip of the syringe into the ear opening, DO NOT push further into the ear. Squeeze gently to release a small amount of water into the ear. Keep the head horizontal for 5 to 15 minutes.
 

Very rarely ear flushing can cause dizziness (if water is not body temperature) but quickly settles. Occasionally people develop irritation in the outer ear with itching and redness. If this occurs consult your GP.
 

If symptoms of blockage do not improve after 2 weeks please contact your GP.
