Dymista Nasal Spray

Dymista is an effective nasal spray used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever). It contains 2 potent active ingredients, Azelastine and Fluticasone and together they work in 3 ways, as an anti-histamine, anti-inflammatory and as a mast cell stabilizer. The last one being very important in stopping symptoms long term while using the treatment.   

Dymista works by blocking histamine from causing inflammation and itching but it also stabilises the area longer term than most other treatments and the steroid helps to bring down any further swelling that can lead to irritation.

A single dose can get to work within 30 minutes and can last 12 hours. As it contains the steroid fluticasone there is also an added benefit that slowly over time there is a build up effect which means it becomes more effective over time.

Gently blow your nose to clear it. Shake the spray bottle and remove the cap.

Tilt your head forward slightly and exhale. Place the nozzle into a nostril and close the other one with your finger.

Squeeze the pump, it should spray out a fine mist. Inhale as you spray and exhale gently.

Repeat this in the other nostril and do this twice a day for maximum effect.

Common side effects:

• Nosebleeds
• Headaches
• A bitter or unpleasant taste or smell that goes away if you have a drink after using the spray.

Uncommon side effects:

• Mild irritation in the nose or throat
• Dryness in the nose or throat
